Serbian Young Psychiatrists’ Section (SYPS)

Serbian Young Psychiatrists’ Section (SYPS) is the organizational part of Serbian Psychiatric Association, that includes young psychiatrists, psychiatric trainees, medical doctors oriented towards psychiatry, young psychologists and social workers that are engaged or willing to work in the field of education and mental health care in Serbia, all gathered around mutual aims and activities.

Upon the initiative of Prof. Dusica Lecic-Tosevski, Central-European Zonal representative of the World Psychiatric Association at the time, and upon initiative of the Serbian Psychiatric Association, according to the voting decision of the young colleagues attending the founding assembly, the Serbian Young Psychiatrists’ Section was founded on October 22, 2008, during the WPA Co-sponsored XIII Congress of Serbian Psychiatric Association in Belgrade. On this occasion, Marija Mitkovic, MD (Institute of Mental Health, Belgrade) was elected for the president of the Section, Bojana Dunjic-Kostic, MD (Clinic of Psychiatry, University Clinical Center of Serbia, Belgrade) for the president-elect, and Slavica Nikolic-Lalic, MD (Special Hospital for Psychiatric Disorders „Dr Slavoljub Bakalovic“, Vrsac) for the secretary general.
