Section activities in the period 2008 – 2012

Regular activities:
• Regular e-mail information updating, related to the congresses, schools, workshops, seminars of continuous medical educations, grants and fellowships, as well as other proficiency opportunities in Serbia or abroad.
• Serbian Psychiatric Association has actively engaged the Section in the organization of educational workshops for young psychiatrists during some of the main psychiatric events in Serbia.

International cooperation:
• In 2009, the Section has been included in the work of WPA Early Career Psychiatrists Council. More details here
• In 2010, after fulfilling the requirements, the Section has become a full member of the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT), at the annual Forum in Dubrovnik. More details here

Research activities and presentations:
• The Section has been enrolled in the working groups of EFPT for research and psychotherapy and engaged in their projects referring different aspects of psychiatric training.
• The Section conducted research among the psychiatric trainees of the Belgrade University School of Medicine, in relation to the reasons of choosing psychiatry as a career and attitudes towards the strengths and challenges of the current program of psychiatric training; the results were presented at EFPT Forums 2009 and 2010.
• In cooperation with the young psychiatrists from Greece and Russia, the Section conducted the comparative research related to the programs of psychiatric training in 13 countries of the Eastern Europe and the Balkans; the results were presented in the form of symposium called „Psychiatric training in Eastern Europe and the Balkans: compatibility, exchange, evolution and modeling“, at the 2nd Congress of Psychiatric Association of Eastern Europe and the Balkans, in Moscow, 2009.
• The experiences from our country were, as well, presented by the Section at the symposium “Psychiatric reform and its implications in psychiatric education and training in South-Eastern Europe”, at the First International Trainees Conference organized during the national psychiatric meeting of Greece, in Eratini, 2010.

News:
Trainee exchange program of the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT) will commence in January 2012. The countries currently offering institutional vacancies are Croatia, Denmark, France, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and United Kingdom, while other countries will provide their offers later. Applications are open for Serbian trainees as well. Applications for the first phase of exchange (period January-July 2012) are received from November the 1st to December 15th, 2011.
